Frequently Asked Questions
So you might have questions... Here are some answers.
A: Acupuncture
is an ancient healing modality that has been used for over 3,000
years. Acupuncture works with Qi, pronounced "Chee", or energy that
flows along several pathways we call meridians. Pain or sickness
indicates that there is an imbalance or blockage of this flow. In
acupuncture, very fine needles are inserted into points along these
meridians to influence the flow of Qi and to return the body back to
balance, the natural state the body wants to return to. From a more
western perspective, research has been done revealing that acupuncture
causes a rise in the body's endorphins, which are our body's natural
pain killers. This may be one reason why acupuncture works so well in
treating pain. In other studies, acupuncture has been shown to
increase circulation to an area and boost the person's immune system.
